A short closing routine helps you notice missing information while the day's work is still easy to remember.

Review completed activity.

Look through the day's saved sales and check whether anything is missing, duplicated or still unresolved. If an operation was interrupted, confirm its saved state before entering it again. A second entry can create a different problem from a missing one.

Compare payments with their evidence.

Compare recorded payment methods and amounts with the cash, payment confirmations or other evidence available to your business. If something differs, investigate the individual record. Avoid changing a total simply to make a report look tidy.

Capture expenses.

Record business expenses that have not yet been entered and keep the relevant supporting documents. A useful description should help you understand the expense several weeks later, not only today.

Check unusual stock activity.

Review stock movements or quantities that look unexpected. Returns, damaged items, data-entry mistakes and unrecorded activity may require different follow-up. Preserve an understandable record of what you find.

Review documents before sharing.

Check the customer or supplier details, items, quantities and totals on a document before sending it. If your business has tax or record-retention obligations, follow the process appropriate to your location and circumstances.

Leave a clear handover.

Note unresolved questions, who will investigate them and what evidence is needed. Even if you work alone, a short note makes tomorrow's follow-up easier.

Keep the routine manageable.

Begin with the checks most relevant to your business. The goal is a dependable habit that improves record quality, not a long checklist that never gets completed.
